Not long ago I put out a little letter to the universe requesting a new fun friend and I believe the universe responded in kind.
I sent a last minute Saturday lunch invite to an old co-worker and friend I hadn't seen in quite some time. It worked out and we ended up having a very personal conversation about life, marriage and more. The next day she sent me these thoughts:
"As always, good
times - but I think I can say more than that - life giving times. Thank you for
enriching my life through your friendship, with your words of wisdom, and your
example of a woman who is a doer of good things - not just a talker about great
ideas. I appreciate your insight into my life and have already implemented some
of your "strategies for success." I love you a lot.
Keep up the good work!" (And yes, I absolutely got choked up reading that as she's really not the most outwardly expressive or emotional friend.)
Then a long overdue lunch with one of my favorite infertiles, Lu from Fertility Foibles, also came to pass this week. It was a phenomenal time and we vowed to meet again next time at a park and during hours outside of our busy professional lives. More soul food from another good friend.
And a surprise entry into the friend fold as I had a very long phone conversation with Lisa from the outstanding blog Life Without Baby on Friday night. It was so refreshing to talk openly with another woman who is no longer pursuing treatment or bringing a baby home, yet is also a big advocate in helping all infertiles on their journey. I'm already looking forward to our next conversation.
Lastly to round out my gratitude, I have a lunch date in October with my original Resolve support group leader, Lisa, who is just a gem of a lady. Even though we only met once or twice in person and she has two beautiful young girls, she always take time out of her life to check in on me. It's really a lovely gesture and I look forward to a little face time with her.
So today, Ms. Universe, thank you. You rocked my world.
